Understanding the opportunity
For its annual company event, this media company wanted to bring its entire London-based team together for a day of inspiration and engagement. In addition to a recap of the previous year’s performance they were keen to focus on the determination to succeed, and wanted to activate that ambition in all 400 employees.
BE Vivid Thinking
Receiving this brief in 2016, as the whole of the world was gripped with Olympic fever, it seemed like the ideal opportunity to leverage attendees’ pride, passion and competitiveness in a variety of light-hearted sporting activities.
The perfect solution
Set in the impressive grounds of the Beaumont Estate, we created an Olympic-themed event for 42 teams, who competed against each other to try and win £1,000 for their designated charity. During the course of the day, the teams took part in seven high energy activities that had been set up around the venue.
Although organisational pride was on the agenda, personal pride was temporarily set aside, as employees tried out surf simulators, human table football, and bouncy sumo wrestling. Although the keyword was fun, the numbers involved required meticulous planning, as sixteen of our team members were on hand to put the teams to the test, referee the contests, and keep track of the scores.
With winners selected, and prizes allocated, the guests were finally able to tuck into a fabulous summer festival-themed menu. Taking their pick from a selection of stalls serving pasties, hotdogs, fish and chips, Eton mess and summer puddings, their day as high performance athletes was clearly behind them.
Evaluating the Impact
All employees returned to the office, highly energised and basking in the feel-good factor of having supported a charity through their team-building activities.
